The Stan Kenton Research Center preserves, organizes, and makes accessible a substantial archive documenting the work of Stan Kenton and his orchestra. These materials are held for study, performance, and research.
This work is ongoing. Materials must be acquired, cataloged, stored, and, when possible, digitized. Much of what exists in the archive has not yet been processed or made accessible in any formal way.
Support makes that work possible.
Contributions sustain the Center’s day-to-day operation and long-term development. They support the preservation of fragile materials, the organization of collections, and the gradual expansion of access for researchers and musicians.
If this music matters to you, and if the preservation of its history has value, your support is essential.
Online donations are processed through PayPal Giving Fund.
The collection continues to grow through the generosity of those who have preserved Kenton-related materials.
If you have any of the following materials:
• Scores and parts
• Recordings and broadcast materials
• Photographs
• Programs, books, and periodicals
• Correspondence and related documents
and are interested in contributing them to the Center, please get in touch through the contact page.
The Center is not currently accepting donations of commercial LPs or 78 rpm records, as those holdings are already extensive. Other recorded materials, especially archival, broadcast, and unpublished recordings, remain very much of interest.
Materials are held for research and study. The Center does not function as a commercial distributor, and access is provided on a limited, case-by-case basis.
Access to specific materials may be arranged by inquiry, depending on condition, ownership, and the nature of the research need.
Materials may not be copied or distributed without the written consent of the copyright owner. Visits are possible by appointment. Please use the contact page for inquiries.
