Collections

The Stan Kenton Research Center houses a wide-ranging archive documenting the life, work, and legacy of Stan Kenton and his orchestra. The holdings span decades of performance, recording, touring, and educational activity, and reflect both the artistic scope of the music and the people who created it.

The collection includes scores and parts, audio and video recordings, photographs, concert programs, books and periodicals, correspondence, and materials related to Kenton’s educational initiatives. Together, these materials form a detailed record of one of the most distinctive ensembles in American music.

This site presents a curated view of the archive. Selected materials are shown here as an introduction to the Center’s holdings, much of which is not digitized or publicly displayed.
